China Water Funds Partnership - Nature for Watershed Conservation

China's first-ever Water Fund was jiontly initiated by TNC, Ailbaba Foundation and Minsheng Tonghui Foundation since 2014, established as platform comprising charitable trust and implementing entities. It supports the implementation of watershed resilience-oriented NbS projects and serve as Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) and co-governance mechanism aligned with market-oriented and diversified eco-compensation policies. The key milestone of us since 2014:
2014-Established Qingshan Village Shanshui Water Fund in Hangzhou of Zhejiang.
2018-Launched Qiandao Lake Water Fund to protect source water of Yangtze River Delta.
2023-Shifting philanthropy dependency to enabling ESG action in Water and Nature.
2025-Water Fund Program transitioned as independent partner of TNC.
By integrating on-site projects under the China Water Funds Partnership, we have become a regionally influential platform supporting watershed stewardship practice, advisory, and research for corporates, governments, and NGOs. Huku Company and Qingshan Centre are registered in Hangzhou, serve as two implementation entities, structured respectively as a limited liability company and NGO.
